This past week saw a lot of changes in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Kenny Omega rose to super-stardom. Hiroshi Tanahashi debuted some questionable new music. WrestleKingdom 11 set the wrestling world’s tongues wagging. Team 2000 had a brief, shining reunion. And, Minoru Suzuki and Suzuki-gun made their triumphant return to NJPW.
Fans were thrilled to hear Kaze Ni Nare blast through Korakuen Hall on Thursday, and CHAOS was left laying.
After spending a couple of years in Pro Wrestling NOAH, Suzuki-gun returned to lay waste to IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada and the rest of CHAOS. Minoru Suzuki laid claim to the ring and basically said that the title would be his.
If it were me, I would just hand him the championship and save myself an ass kicking. The man is pretty scary.
Suzuki-gun was established in May 2011 when Minoru Suzuki took over leadership of the Kojima-gun stable after its members turned on founder Satoshi Kojima. Over the years, the stable has grown and changed, but its members now include not only Suzuki himself, but Taichi, Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr. (collectively known as Killer Elite Squad), Takashi Iizuka, El Desperado, Taka Michinoku, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru. Over the years, there have been members come and go (Shelton Benjamin, Yoshihiro Takayama, and Takashi Sugiura most notably), but the current incarnation are the ones we will focus on in this piece.
Suzuki-gun is known for wreaking havoc wherever they go, and now that they are back in NJPW, they are sure to pick up right where they left off.
