It’s Tuesday, and that means it’s time for our SmackDown Live preview. The respective rosters have been “shaken up”, but with the two top titles on the SmackDown brand being and defended on the next RAW pay per view, Payback, where does that leave the rest of the Tuesday crew?
Let’s take a look at five reasons to watch SmackDown Live tonight.
1. Six Pack Challenge
This was announced during RAW. It will be Sami Zayn vs. Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Mojo Rawley vs. Jinder Mahal, the winner gaining a WWE Title shot. Whether or not that shot will take place at SmackDown’s next pay per view, Backlash, has not been specified as of yet.

Right off the bat, an issue I find with this match is that there is zero belief any of the six has a chance of moving on to beat Randy Orton. That said, the match tonight could still be pretty fun. I can see Zayn winning as he’s new to the brand and took the fall in last week’s Triple Threat vs. AJ Styles and Baron Corbin. Ziggler would obviously be the worst option. I do have to say that there is some intrigue here in that the winner isn’t patently obvious, and it guaranteed someone new is in the WWE Title hunt (again, as long as it’s not Ziggler).
2. Build to AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens
Last week, Styles won the aforementioned Triple Threat to become the #1 contender to Owens’ US Title. It was a good way of building up the brand’s secondary title.
We know Owens is defending against Chris Jericho at Payback, but with that result basically a formality, it will be interesting to see if SmackDown starts the build to Owens-Styles. What to watch for here is how Styles is positioned. Is a babyface turn in the cards? It’s not as if people are going to stop cheering him anytime soon.
