According to Wikipedia, the Pan American Center (which is on the campus of New Mexico State University) has a current capacity of just over 12,000 fans. The arena was renovated in 2006-07, and the arena held over 14,000 fans prior to that renovation. The all time attendance record in the arena was 14,845 fans for a New Mexico State/UNLV basketball game on January 8, 1990. Given the fact that the arena no longer has the capacity to seat that many fans following the renovation, WWE’s claim to have set the attendance record for the venue seems dubious. It would be more accurate to say that they may have set the post-renovation attendance record for the venue.
