NJPW ROH visa issues

NJPW World has added a free match featuring Kenny Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi from last year’s The New Beginning In Niigata show. The two men faced off for the vacant IWGP Intercontinental Championship that Shinsuke Nakamura had relinquished when was preparing to leave NJPW for WWE. Omega’s winning the title is what really began his stellar rise to the top of the company in 2016.

Pay no attention to Kenny’s dates. He couldn’t do the maths last night. The match itself was from February 14, 2016. But, his singing was truly inspirational that night.

It looks like there are some visa issues with some of the NJPW stars. YOSHI-HASHI and Jushin “Thunder” Liger were scheduled for Ring Of Honor’s SuperCard Of Honor next weekend in Lakeland, but due to travel restrictions/problems with getting their visas in line, neither man will be appearing on the show. They have been replaced by GoD, Tama Tanga and Tanga Loa.

ROH issued the following statement on the situation this morning:

Unfortunately, due to delays in US visa processing NJPW stars Jushin Liger and YOSHI-HASHI will be unable to attend Supercard of Honor as originally planned. We apologize to fans excited to see these 2 performers, and share your disappointment in the unavoidable situation.

Ring of Honor and NJPW officials are excited to announce replacement talent for Supercard of Honor… New Japan stars, and former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, The Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Roa) have been added to to the Supercard of Honor lineup and will join fellow Bullet Club member Hangman Page in a 6-Man Tag Team Showdown against the team of The Briscoes and Bully Ray!

It’s also being reported that the visa issues are effecting The Tempura Boyz, as well.

NJPW World will be having their New Japan Cup presser tomorrow morning at 3:00 am EDT. Katsuyori Shibata won the NJ Cup today, and it’s expected that his match with Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis will be announced at the press conference.
