WWE SmackDown Live on the USA Network saw a ratings and viewership decline this week. The April 18 show drew 2.544 million viewers, way down from the 3.105 million SmackDown drew last week.

Last week’s broadcast certainly benefitted from the novelty of the roster shake-up. This week, SmackDown went head to head with the NBA Playoffs, including the Chicago Bulls vs. the Boston Celtics, two of the biggest markets in the country. There’s no doubt that WWE experienced a hit to their numbers partially due to viewers in these markets tuning into basketball, though that’s certainly not the sole reason the show lost over 500,000 viewers this week.

SmackDown’s 2.544 million viewers was good enough to finish in sixth place on cable Tuesday night in terms of pure viewership. In the coveted 18-49 age group ratings demographic, SmackDown was third for the night on cable behind the NBA Playoffs.

We will update this post with the final SmackDown cable broadcast rating when it becomes available.
