The latest round of NXT tapings took place at Full Sail University last night and we now know what the three title matches will be at TakeOver. If you don’t want to be spoiled, please avert your eyes.
NXT TakeOver takes place in Chicago on May 20th, the night before Backlash, a SmackDown Live exclusive pay per view.
NXT Title Match
Bobby Roode (c) vs. Hideo Itami
*Itami wins a #1 contenders match over Roderick Strong to set this up.
NXT Tag Team Title Match
Authors of Pain (c) vs. DIY
*William Regal announces this will be a ladder match. DIY beat Tino Sabbtelli & Riddick Moss at the tapings, in a match that was said to have great heat.
NXT Women’s Title Match
Four Corners Match
Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross
*This gets set up by a battle royal, which was to determine a #1 contender. Both Candice LeRae (wife of Johnny Gargano) and Rachael Ellering (daughter of Paul) debut in it. When it comes down to Moon, Riot and Cross as the final three, Asuka interferes and destroys all three, causing a no contest and futhering her heel turn. Regal then announces Asuka will defend in a Four Corners Match at TakeOver.
Additionally, you have to think that the TakeOver card will have spots for Drew McIntyre, Allister Black, Kassius Ohno, and Sanity among others. Dylan Miley is clearly getting pushed, but it’s probably too early to put him on a TakeOver card at this point.
