NXT TakeOver: WarGames is in the books, and once again, TakeOver managed to deliver big time. Even though WWE’s version of WarGames didn’t hold true to the original except in the two-rings concept, the overall show was pretty damn good.
A new NXT Women’s Champion was crowned, Aleister Black kicked someone’s head off, and Kassius Ohno actually got a spot on a TakeOver.
All in all not too shabby. Except for the jerky damn camera work. I think Kevin Dunn really does hate us all and wants us to have seizures and cuss at the television for the entire show. STOP IT!!!
The show kicked off with Lars Sullivan making his TakeOver debut against Kassius Ohno, who has been MIA for most of his NXT run this time around. Sullivan was in control for most of the match, pretty much monster-handling Ohno.
Ohno had a brief spurt of offense towards the end of the match, but Sullivan just wouldn’t go down at all. Dude is scary. This was a good result for Lars, but I have to wonder what the hell they are doing with Ohno. He’s gone from the hottest name on the indies to languishing in some hidden purgatory in NXT. He’s too good for that kind of thing.
Build new stars, yes, definitely. But, don’t relegate one of the most talented wrestlers in the brand to relative obscurity.
