We are only two weeks and some change from WrestleKingdom 12, and the Road To Tokyo Dome continued Monday. We already know that Tana is injured (arthritis and fluid in his knee that he hopes rest will fix enough to have his match with Jay White). Kenny has been bloodied by Jericho. And, Naito is pissed about the wording of the show’s main events.

But, before we get to The Dome, we have to travel down the road to get there first.

NJPW Road To Tokyo Dome Results

3rd Match 15 Minutes Limit
Kotetsu Yamamoto Memorial 11th Young Lion Cup Tournament
Syota Umino defeated Ren Narita.

Umino is my second favorite YL after River People; he shows fire and intensity and just won’t give up. And, that fire won this match with a nasty Boston Crab. Nice…

3rd Match 15 Minutes Limit
Kotetsu Yamamoto Memorial 11th Young Lion Cup Tournament
Tomoyuki Oka defeated Tetsuhiro Yagi.

Pretty sure Yagi lost his hair to a crazed MiSu with clippers, so the two bald guys in the ring were a bit confusing. But, I think scalping him made Yagi that much more vicious. And, Oka’s frustration seems to grow. But, at least today, he got the win.

3rd Match 15 Minutes Limit
Kotetsu Yamamoto Memorial 11th Young Lion Cup Tournament
Katsuya Kitamura defeated Hirai Kawato.

Kitamura and his green as grass ass and stilted technique better not hurt River People. But, of course Monster Juice Lion won a rather sloppy match. Why? No clue. He’s not good.

Masked Horse (Taguchi), KUSHIDA, Tiger Mask, & Jushin “Thunder” Liger defeated TAKA Michinoku, El Desperado, Taichi, & Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

It’s Taguchi, folks. The idiot under the ask (the horse one) is Taguchi. This was just stupid in the best way Taichi unmasked Taguchi, and it all unraveled from there. It was just fun.

Good action, plenty of insanity, and whiskey. What else could you want? But, no matter the mask he’s under, Gooch is gonna Gooch. That ass-based offense gives him away every time. And, he won he match, sans mask, with the Boma….Butt???

Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii defeated Henare & Togi Makabe

Yano and Ishii were the best parts of this, especially how Ishii stomped on Henare. Not a long match but it didn’t need to be one. Henare is still a Young Lion and losing is part of his training.

EVIL & SANADA defeated Yujiro Takahashi and Bad Luck Fale.

Good match with the LIJ crew out for revenge for the loss of their titles. Of couse, Yujiro and Fale came back to kick their asses, but that’s how it goes.

LIJ came back, outsmarted Fale, and nailed Yujiro with the Magic Killer. It was beautiful to behold.

Kota Ibushi & TenCozy vs Leo Tonga & GoD.

Poor Kota is just at loose ends since Cody can’t be bothered to show up in Japan to promote NJPW’s biggest show of the year. They are just shuffling him around all over the place. I know NJPW wants to keep him in the pubic eye, but GoD and Leo? Seriously? Poor baby bird.

Good enough match with everyone flinging everyone else all over the place outside the ring. Leo is heads and shoulders above Cody Hall, and it shows every time he’s in the ring. Kota got the win on Leo after nailing him with the Kamigoye.

YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto defeated Takashi Iizuka and Minoru Suzuki via DQ.

I so want Goto shaved bald. It’s all I want for a late Christmas present. Yes, I am evil; I’m good with that. Of course, MiSu putting Goto’s head through various walls at Korakuen works, to.

At this point, I am not picky. One day, Iizuka is going to eat someone, and Gedo will be responsible. It wont be pretty. GIVE HIM A TWINKIE!!!! Good matches, but I am tired of the tags. Give me these two and a pair of clippers already. All these these wins Goto keeps getting in these tags means he’s going bald at WK, right? Right???

Even I can’t mock this dumbass perm. It’s too stupid.

At least Jay White came out, beat Tana down, and hopefully straightened that perm out.

Hiromu Takahashi, BUSHI, & Tetsuya Naito defeated Roppongi 3K & Kazuchika Okada.

I miss Daryl. I know he’s a new dad and all, but he could at least show up once in a while. The violence between Naito and Okada ramps up a bit every tag match, so by the time they get to The Dome, they’ll end up killing each other.

Plus, the action between RPG 3K and Hiromu and BUSHI was great. In a way, Sho is the star and Yo is just kind of…there. But the focus was on Naito and Okada. Naito (like Omega) is so spastic, and Okada is so methodical; you wouldn’t think it would work. But, it does…beautifully. Naito beat Yo with the Destino, countered the Cobra Clutch, and low-blowed Okada. Not a bad way to end a show…
