It’s Tuesday, so that means it’s time for us to tune into the blue brand and for our WWE SmackDown Live results. Tonight’s show kicked off with Renee Young interviewing WWE World Champion AJ Styles about his handicap title match at the Royal Rumble. He said he thought Daniel Bryan’s decision to make the handicap match last week was unfair but refused to comment on if either Daniel Bryan or Shane McMahon are playing favorites. AJ says he’ll beat both Zayn and Owens in the same night.
KO and Zayn come out for some trash talk and say AJ has no chance of walking out of the Royal Rumble with the WWE World Title. Owens says that when the Rumble is over, they will be the first co-WWE World Champions. And of course, then Shan McMahon comes out. He says that he has no clue what Bryan is doing, but supports his decision to have the match at the Rumble…for now. He then makes the main event: Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton, & AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.
Becky Lynch returned to action tonight, entered the Women’s Royal Rumble, and took on Ruby Riott. And of course, the rest of the Riott Squad had to be at ringside with Ruby, while Naomi and Charlotte were in Becky’s corner. Good match from these two; they have similar styles and came up in pro wrestling in an almost parallel way. Becky got the win by submitting Ruby to the Disarm-her.
The Bludgeon Brothers completely squashed The Ascension. There’s really nothing else to say about this match. Then, they beat on them some more once the match was over.
The final 1st Round US Title tournament match was up next when Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley faced off. I don’t like either of these guys, and Mojo annoys me to no end. Mojo just beat the hell out of Zack and advanced in the tournament.
Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin came out to “demand justice” for the way their SmackDown Tag Team Title match went down last week. And, they were pretty much acting like heels the whole time, claiming they were cost the tag titles due to a bad referee call. This was a bunch of rambling: they’re so smart, they’re winners, everyone else is a smelly rat. Out came Daniel Bryan to say that the ref’s decision is always final and that the wrong Uso was pinned. Then, Bryan made a SmackDown Tag Title 2 Out Of 3 Fall match between The Usos and Gable and Benjamin.

Breezango was up next, taking on Aiden English and Rusev, our favorite Rusev Day duo. And, of course, anything Rusev Day is pretty damn good. But, in a shocking turn of events, Fandango rolled up Rusev for the pin and the win. I think this calls for a national day of mourning.

Then it was time for the main event, a Handicap Match pitting AJ Styles, Randy Orton, & Shinsuke Nakamura against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. Why Randy Orton still has such a big role in the WWE is beyond me. Just let him ride off on one of the vacations he loves to go on every other week and stay gone. Good enough match, though it was a bit of a sloppy cluster at parts. At one point, Shane McMahon came out and made it a No Count Out match. Then, Kevin Owens came in and took everyone out with a chair. A DQ win was announced, and then Shane said the match was No Count Out, No DQ, and Anything Goes.
AJ chased Owens to the back with a chair. Shinsuke and Orton beat Zayn down with the steel steps, threw him over the announce table, and took a nasty looking and sounding back drop on that same table. Back in the ring, Shinsuke nailed Sami with the Kinshasa, Orton nailed him with a RKO, and Sami was pinned easily after that.
