WWE SmackDown Results (04/21/16)

On tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Ryback got his hands on Kalisto for the first time since WrestleMania. Paige teamed up with Natalya to take on Team BAD in front of her home crowd, while R-Truth took on Fandango with Goldust as special guest referee.

The main event featured the team of Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn taking on Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. Let’s talk about everything that happened this week on the Blue Brand.

Ryback Unplugs Kalisto’s Life Support

I don’t want to be mistaken for a broken record, but there’s no doubt that both Kalisto and the United States Title continue to fall into obscurity. After a dismal buildup to a WrestleMania Kickoff match, both Kalisto and Ryback resumed their boring feud on tonight’s episode. Unlike the results from WrestleMania, Kalisto lost the non-title matchup, leading me to believe we haven’t seen the last confrontation between these two.

While it appears that Kalisto has been separated for the time being from Sin Cara, we need to start seeing the Lucha Dragon in high impact contests that make us care about him again. Ryback has transitioned his character into “The Big Guy” and by that I mean he’s changed his wrestling gear to look even MORE like Goldberg. I truthfully hope we move the U.S. title into the right direction soon, otherwise we might need Cena to bring it back to prominence upon his return from injury.
